Wow where do I start on these guys? Well, lets just begin by saying this police force is one of the most dishonest, free roaming police departments in the state of New York. I probable cant even legally tell you the incidents I know about first hand where officers broke the law, leaked confidential information, and alerted people about possible stings!!! Now I want to be very clear on something: not all officers on the Watertown police force are bad. As my Granddaddy use to say "you can always find a ripe peach in a bushel of rotten apples".      Some years ago when I was hosting a live tv show on cable channel 10 (before time warner came into Watertown and it was Watertown cable) the police chief Chief Henegan disappeared. Everyone in the city said they didn't know where he was. I went on the air and got a little flack when I said "I wonder who is in charge with the chief gone, Barney or Goober?"  Come to find out he had went down south to interview for another job I guess.      Well the city of Watertown police department has not gotten any better. A few years ago one of their own went crazy and shot a guy when he was fooling around with the cops girlfriend. A state investigation looking into the matter found that officers on the force had actually covered up things this officer had done before this. I urge you all to read this report. Its long but please,please, please...if you think I am some crack head that doesn't know what he is talking about take the time to read it. You will see everything I am saying is true! The link for this report is:  Watertown Police Investigation      The police chief said things would be changed....ummmm yeah right!  Recently i tried to file a complaint against an officer when he or she cut me off and almost caused me to hit them head on-just for the record it was car 4403- when i called to register my complaint the city manager was off, the chief was off, the mayor was too busy selling cars to take a call and the rude person I talked to in the city office only said I could leave my name and number and someone would get back to me sometime next week.  I did talk to an officer in the city police department, he would not take my complaint seriously as I didn't think they should need my name to take a complaint about an officer. He basically called me a drug dealer!! (just for the record i have never been arrested in my life) This city will never come to realize the problems in their police force unless they take citizens complaints seriously and take them with or without the person's name. In addition I was told the officers that investigate their own are still the same ones named in the state investigation a few years back. So....what the hell has changed in the city of Watertown? Not a god dam thing! The city police are refusing to publicly admit there is gang activity in their city and refusing to admit there is drug and prostitution in their city. Until they admit they have problems in the city, and they are properly controlled by the city manager this police force is headed for disaster......mark my words people (and i have yet to be wrong on my predictions!) it may not be today, it may not be next week or next month but if this mayor doesn't start taking more interest in his city then selling cars, and the city manager doesn't start taking complaints from citizens seriously this police force is headed for scandal!!!!      This is what the city of Watertown needs to do to clean their police force up: 1.) Release the officers named in that report a few years ago 2.) Make it a policy to take all police complaints from citizens even if they don't want to leave their name 3.) Make it possible for citizens to talk directly to the police chief and the city manager without leaving a message. 4.) Require the mayor to be in the city office on a regular daily schedule (he is getting a full time pay so start acting like it!) 5.) Hire one person that reports only to the city manager and mayor and that has an office in the city police department, who will be responsible for investigating police officers and their activities.      To sum it up: I am very glad I don't live in the city of Watertown. Anyone new coming to this area please think twice before you move into the city. For the safety of your family don"t move into the city of Watertown! And for those of you that do live in the city of Watertown-start talking to your mayor and city manager. Demand change! And if they wont make the change you make the change in the voting booth!!!!!
